This is the fifth year that Vivian Kirkfield has run this contest. Contestants write a story appropriate for kids ages 12 or under, that has a total word count of 50 or less. This year it looks like there are upwards of 700 entries (one/person). I hope you enjoy mine!
THE GREAT ESCAPE
One ran out the door,
Another jumped the gate, made haste,
Together, their hair akilter,
They followed the string wrapped ‘round the trees,
The path was long, the light uncertain,
They escaped the witches’ claws,
And to their grandma’s warm embrace.
